There are also some important KETL enhancements from Nick Wakefield:
 
1. Fix: Parameter inheritance was inconsistent across job types, this
has now been fixed. A parameter now follows normal object-orientated
inheritance when defined in XML or in the metadata.

2. Fix: Errors in the complete step did not cause the job to fail, this
has now been fixed.

3. Enhancement: OSJobs, SQLJobs and any other job executors can now been
run directly from the command line.

4. Enhancement: The NullWriter has been added to test reader throughput.

5. Enhancement: The beta PGBulkWriter has been added, this class uses
the enhanced JDBC driver to bulk load PostgreSQL using the copy command,
throughput is at least 2x that of a normal insert.

6. Enhancement: Pre and Post SQL support added to JDBCWriter.

Note that you will need a JDK 1.5 or greater to build Bizgres from source!

Folks,

Just wanted to let you know that Bizgres 0.9 has been bundled and will very
soon be available from the Bizgres web site.  Currently we're being held up
by a DNS problem which prevents access to the new web site.

The new Bizgres includes:
Jie Zhang's bitmap-on-disk indexes, which reduce the size of indexes on large
tables by 95% compared to B-trees;
Simon Riggs's (with help from Tom Lane) faster external sorts, at least
doubling the speed of large sort operations;
More copy enhancements from Alon Goldshuv;
Merging of the 8.1  source code tree with Bizgres.

Please note that the last improvement means a dump & reload for those of you
who are upgrading.  We have not yet solved the upgrade-in-place issue for
Bizgres.

More tommorrow when you can actually access and download the new code!
