By the way, between the initial tests I reported earlier and this test, I
changed the RAID configuration from a 3-drive RAID0 to a 6-drive RAID5
array, and there was no difference in performance, which supports my point
about I/O not being a material concern.

In fact, the data is being read from and written to the same filesystem,
which is consuming 60MB/s of simultaneous read/write bandwidth, a fraction
of the available I/O bandwidth of about 100 write and 240 read (re-write of
about 50+120=170MB/s).
