Well, what we're doing isn't so much data warehousing... but we're  
looking at Bizgres specifically because table partitioning should  
give us quite a performance boost.  Using SSL is simply more  
convenient than SSH port forwarding.

Does it hurt to have it in there?  I mean, it's dynamically linked,  
so you can't be paying all that much per-process.
